DISABLED

He could bearly lift himself everyday from his bed
A result of an irreparable loss of a vital part of his being
His everyday became an exciting monotony
The irony; a sweet lie on which he constantly fed
He would never tell himself the truth for loss of where to begin
The accident happened a long time ago but the case never appealed to any attorney

She had withered limbs and a part of her brain was dead
She was given a wheelchair but the givers also became her drivers
She had only to go their direction if she would go anywhere at all
Her life was such that unlookers would pity and dread
But no one knew how she ironically saw herself...'The horse and his rider'
Her accident was her advantage that put everyone on her beck and call

Sadly, they were not born with the disabilities
They were resultants of unsuspected careless activities
When he had his accident , he did not as much as break a leg
But the result... never again did he 'break a leg'
When she had her accident, she did not as much as receive a shot in the arm
But the result... never again did she give out 'a shot in the arm'

His accident happened the day his mind became plagued with laziness
The day he chose his comfort zone and became comfortably zoned out of purpose
The day he considered working with his hands as being ridiculous and  dirty
The day he convinced himself that his background  kept his back perpetually on the ground
The day he shut his mind to brilliant ideas because his 'schooled mind' considered them foolish
Though physically stable, that  was the day his mind became disabled

Her accident happened the day she thought her beauty was a ready pass into life's treasure store
The day she began to  see herself as the sole financial responsibility of a man
The day she stopped seeing a real need for self discovery and personal development
The day she failed to settle a truce with an hurtful past and became an emotionally crippled burden
The day she stopped celebrating her gender difference as her uniqueness other than a point for inferiority
Though physically stable,  that was the day her mind became disabled.

This write-up✍ was inspired by the indomitable spirit and undeniable achievements of some of the physically challenged in our societies contrasting the physical and psychological laziness limiting the so-called abled. This is to steer up positive concerns and prove that disability is never physical but psychological. While some see their physical disabilities as a licence to depend solely on the masses, some others see it for what it truly is...a mountain that must be surmounted. Let us all develop positive mindsets and press on for the mark of excellence in all that our hands honestly find to do. Never dispise the days of little beginning... Only the end justifies the means. No one is disabled until our minds become accidented! #BeHimspired

The idioms and intended use
'Break a leg' :  Achieve an outstanding feat; good luck
'A shot in the arm' : Something inspiring, something that gives someone energy

  1. I find this remarkable, as a piece of writing and thoughtful, as a word of knowledge. The writer presented a depth emphasis painted by verbal words.
